Chester Solon Goodson
Officer

USN
USS West Virginia
1941

Chester Solon Goodson was on the ship and had gone to church that morning of Dec 7.  He stood on the dock and watched in horror and agony as his shipmates perished.  He dived and stayed in the water looking for survivors for days, I was told...he also dived on the Arizona.   He was 2nd Lieutenant....not sure his rank at time of attack, but was Personnel Officer.  Following him, My Dad was Career Navy, and 2 of my kids are currently enlisted now as well.

Sue Goodson (granddaughter)
