Richard P. Schulz was aboard the USS West Virginia during the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor when he was 18 years old.  He went on to serve aboard the USS San Francisco and he was present for the invasion of Guadalcanal.  He retired from the navy in the 1960s with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.  He was an avid participant in his local chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivors and the USS San Francisco reunion group.  He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but spent the last 26 years of his life in Santa Rosa, California.  Richard Schulz passed away in 1986.
