Howard David Hodges was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941

Mike,

My grandmother's brother (my great uncle) was Howard David Hodges a fireman on the U.S.S. West Virginia and was killed during the attack.

Here's what I know: Howard Hodges was one of 15 children, born and raised in the little town of Washington, NC. He joined the Navy directly out of high school. He was 20 years old when he died at Pearl Harbor. I will be seeing my grandmother in the next couple weeks so I plan to get more information from her then. Meanwhile, feel free to post what I've shared so far. I'm really interested in finding someone who may have known him, but I know that's unlikely.

Best regards,

Jon Kimball

Raleigh, NC
