Herman Lee Kimble, Private First Class, born April 5, 1917, Sour Lake, TX. Joined the USMC Dec. 16, 1941 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Southwest and Central Pacific areas (February 1942-April 1945) and aboard the USS West Virginia (May 1942-March 1944).

Participated in action against the enemy at Philippine Islands, Oct. 19-20, 1944; Battle of Surigao Strait, Oct. 25, 1944; Sulu Sea and invasion of Mindoro Island, Jan. 6-9, 1945; bombardment of Luzon, P.I., Feb. 19-March 1, 1945; and naval bombardment of Iwo Jima, Volcano Island.

Discharged Sept. 13, 1945. Medals include the Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon w/3 stars and Honorable Service Lapel Button.
Worked in oil fields then joined Pipefitters Local in Houston, TX. Retired, he lives in Winnie, TX. He has two step-sons, Ralph and Norman Burkett; four grandchildren: Janie, Kristi, Clint and Kelly; and three great-grandchildren: Cameron, Taylor and Ryan.
