Lester R. Morgan
S.F.2.c
R Division
USN
USS West Virginia
1943-1945

Dear Sir,

My father Lester R. Morgan was a crew member on BB 48 from the time of her refit in Bremerton Wash. until the wars end in Sept. 1945.

He became a "Shellback" on her decks, and served aboard her as she earned her 5 Battle Stars.

He takes pride in the fact that he was aboard her in Tokyo Bay for the signing of the Peace Armistice, and although she was sunk at Pearl Harbor in 1941 she was refloated and sitting at General Quarters for that historical surrender.

Dad is in his 80's now and still very proud of the fact he had an opportunity to serve his country when she needed him.

I'm enclosing a photo of him circa 1943. It is best viewed in it’s smaller size.

Thanks for listing him on the roles of the men who served aboard that great ship.

Sincerely,

Bruce D. Morgan
