USS West Virginia Veteran

Lieutenant Commander Robert M. Rocktaschel was a Pearl Harbor Survivor aboard USS Medusa (AR-1).  He was killed on November 8, 1944 when the Kingfisher float plane that he was piloting lost a wing and crashed into the sea. His death and that of his radioman A.R.M.2c Andrew Chup were the Wee Vee's first casualties since Pearl Harbor.
