Norman Howard Bowers
Y.2c
CY Division
USN
USS West Virginia
1934-1938

My father, Norman Howard Bowers served aboard the West Virginia from 1934 to 1938, assigned as a Yeoman in the ship's signals office. He was discharged in 1938, returned to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and attended business college and began a career in the insurance industry. He re-enlisted in the Navy in early 1943, serving as Yeoman to the captain of the USS Casa Grande (LSD-13) and was later transferred to a shore assignment at Pearl Harbor, where he served until discharged in early 1946.
My father was very proud of having served aboard the "WeeVee". He passed away in September, 1982, but I would like to have his name added to the veteran's list as an honor to his memory.
Thank you for maintaining the website and the memory of a proud ship.
