Edmund D. Egeland, W01, born Aug. 1, 1919, Miles City, MT, joined the USN at Kansas City, MO, Sept. 9, 1940. He was stationed aboard the USS West Virginia (BB-48) to Dec. 7, 1941; USS Salt Lake City (CA-25) Dec. 8, 1941-44; fleet activities, Yokosuka, Japan, 1945-47; Great Lakes NTC, 1948-52; Naval Ammunition Depot, Guam, MI, 1953-55; USS Gearing (DD-710) and USS Purdy, 1955-57; and Great Lakes NTC, 1957-60. He transferred to Fleet Reserve in 1960.

Retired Aug. 1, 1970, with the rank of warrant officer. Married Wanda Nov. 14, 1944, and they have two sons and two grandchildren. He accepted employment with the state of Missouri as a state park superintendent and is now retired and living with his wife in Kansas City, MO. His oldest son served in the USN for three years during the Vietnam conflict.
