Ingram C. Sowell

Rear Admiral Ingram C. Sowell graduated from the Naval Academy in 1912 where he was the quarterback of the football team. During his time at Annapolis, he is remembered for leading Navy to victory over Army on November 26, 1910 with a broken rib and ruptured lung. He was awarded the Navy Cross during World War I for service in command of USS K-2. He took command of Battleship Division Four aboard USS West Virginia in January 1945.
